Crazy to think today marks the halfway point in my 2024 Met Gala wishes. 300 looks and today features wishes 148-150. To create these wishes I come up with a dream guest list. This year I started with over 800 names on the list and I cut it down to 350 and then slowly but surely as I was working my way through the list picking looks for everyone I could that some names dropped off the list as I couldn’t find the perfect runway, vintage, or design a custom gown. The list finished at 300 which is about right for how many stars who will actually take to the red carpet on the first monday in May. The Met Gala red carpet is one of my favorites of the year and I am counting down the moments until the stars start ascending those famous steps. I’ve spent a lot of time in these introductory paragraphs talking at length about this years exhibition theme, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’, and the dress code ‘Garden of Time.’ The 10 looks in today’s wishes stick to the dress code in various different manners.

Kate Hudson knows how to rock a major Met Gala moment. Back at the beginning of her time attending the Gala it was basically expected that being a nepo baby herself she would wear another nepo baby, Stella McCartney. In the last decade though she has expanded her reach a little wearing looks from Atelier Versace and Michael Kors. She’s attending with Michael twice in 2015 and 2021 and I would love to see it happen again this year. I crafted a custom blue floral lace scoop neck fitted racerback gown that I would attach a large bow at the back that would turn into a train for Kate. The lace is a Michael Kors signature and the color with the pattern would be perfect for the theme. I think the sporty meets glam is exactly what the Michael Kors brand of glamour is. Now to make this look perfect for the Met Gala I would style it with a loose updo, soft brown smokey eyes, a light pink lip, a pair of baby blue satin Malone Souliers ‘Keaton’ platform sandals, and a selection of dazzling Van Cleef & Arpels jewels to add some frosting.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has yet to make a post pandemic Met Gala return and I have to say I am missing her brand of glamour desperately. The Met is the only red carpet where Rosie was a regular that she hasn’t been back to. I am ready. She could turn out so many different major moments with any of the brands she has been supporting recently, but my hope is to see her in Tom Ford. I know many are underwhelmed with Peter Hawkings has done since he was appointed the heir to the Tom Ford dynasty by the man, myth, and legend himself. He has very much stuck to safe, sellable styles for his two collections since talking the helm. Now that being said are they bad? No, just not provocative and boundary pushing like the designs of the namesake of the brand. I would love to see him take this slinky bugle beaded gown from the Fall 2024 RTW collection with its halter neck, daring thigh high split, and open back and customize it a little for Rosie adding a feathered hem and train to add a lot of drama for Rosie to bring to the Met Gala red carpet. It would be a soft gold moment that would be a beautiful departure from the undoubtable amount of florals and pastels that we are bound to see ascend the steps at the Met. I think Rosie would look so beautiful wearing this customized gown with a sleek tight pulled back bun, thick winged eye, deep rose pink lips, a nude and black floral lace Jimmy Choo clutch (because we have to bring a little floral to the look), a pair of gold Tom Ford strappy crystal embellished chain detailed sandals, statement Jessica McCormack chandelier earrings from the High Jewellery Collection where each rainbow earring is set with articulated fringes of dangling round brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds bordering a central drop of two round brilliant cut diamonds, two pear-shaped diamonds, two heart-shaped diamonds, two oval-shaped diamonds and one cushion cut diamond, in Georgian cut-down settings, and a ‘Chubby Daisy’ white diamond halo ring.

Hyunjin is a main dancer, rapper and visual of the K-pop group Stray Kids and by reports say he has been invited to attend this years Met Gala. I wouldn’t be surprised because Anna Wintour knows that K-pop stars mean big press beyond the New York City social circles. He has become one of the faces of Versace and knowing that I would be surprised to see him wearing any other brand on this years red carpet. As I was looking at the Versace Fall 2024 RTW collection for the perfect look for Hyunjin I knew I had found it in look 79. This coat styled with a silver crystal embellished sheer shirt, western belt, and skinny pants is perfect for the K-pop star to bring to the Met red carpet. Does it have anything to do with the theme? No, but menswear doesn’t usually. Now he very could go bare chested under the shirt, but I would put a black Versace button down under it so you really get to appreciate the detail of the crystal top. A diamond stud in one ear and a small diamond chandelier earring in the other in addition to a diamond encrusted watch from Chopard and chunky sole Versace derbies would set this look up to be one of the nights best menswear moments. And that is the official middle point of this years wishes.

Now I will say it isn’t downhill from here. There are still so many major moments I am wishing will happen on this years red carpet. Last year when Ice Spice took to the Met Gala red carpet for her debut wearing custom Balmain with a Judith Leiber crystal embellished camera clutch she was still relatively unknown. You could say that it launched her red carpet style stardom. She’s built relationships with brands like Dolce & Gaultier. I was looking around and thought that I would go for a cool girl brand for a cool girl. So I picked two things from the Marine Serre Fall 2024 RTW collection I would layer the floral jersey bodysuit under the black draped and winged strapless gown to really make a look that honors the theme in the obvious, but also the subtle. The obvious is obviously the floral print on the bodysuit, but the subtle is the very overt nod to Thierry Mugler Fall/Winter 1984 via the gown. It is perfect. I almost think I want the gown to be peridot green, but the black is what would make it stand out on this red carpet. Her signature short curled afro, sharp winged eyes, dark mauve lips, a pair of black satin Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist Hollywood’ platform sandals, and the only jewelry being Verdura ‘Raja’ earclips made of peridot, mandarin garnet, and white diamonds would definitely make this such an unexpected yet majorly cool moment for Ice Spice to bring to her second Met Gala red carpet.

I wouldn’t call Iman a Met Gala regular, but when she does we can say that she makes waves. Her last appearance in 2021 could be seen as the moment that really launched Harris Reed as a major designer. While Iman has not worn the same designer on the Met Gala red carpet twice before I would love to see her back in Harris Reed again this year. When I saw the looks from the Harris Reed Fall 2024 RTW collection I said to myself that every single look in the small collection deserves to be on the Met Gala red carpet. Some have already been worn, but this stunning black trumpet gown with long sleeves a draped detail on the back and a giant pink and white flower on the skirt has not. It was a no brainer for me to put this gown on Iman. She has the hight, grace, and presence to really make this look work on the red carpet. So Iman I am begging you, please show up and out in this gown on the Met steps. I would style the gown with a chic vintage inspired updo, smokey eyes, nude glossy lips, a pair of black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Hot Chick Alta’ peep toe platform pumps, and a selection of vintage jewelry from Joseph Saidian & Sons to really dive home the glamour.

Oscar Isaac has been to one Met Gala, 2022, but I am ready for one of the internets daddies to make his return this year. He has become one of the men to watch on the red carpet. His Moon Knight promo tour really turned the Oscar into a mens fashion icon. Part of what made him a sensation was the fact he wore one of Thom Browne’s skirt suits. Now that last turn on the Met Gala red carpet also put Oscar in Thom Browne, but he wears the brand so well that I am ready to put him back in the brand for the 2024 gala. I mean this navy floral embroidered shrunken suit is perfect for Oscar and for this years theme. I would love to see him style it with his signature curls, grey beard, a pair of navy Thom Browne oxfords, no socks, and a Cartier watch with a gold case, white face, and navy blue alligator embossed band.

Lily James was front row at the Prada Fall 2024 RTW show during Milan fashion week in February. She hasn’t hit a red carpet yet wearing the brand since and so I would imagine they are cooking up a custom gown for Lily to wear for this years Met Gala red carpet. Honestly I can’t believe I am saying this but I typically prefer the custom things that Prada creates over the RTW shows that Miuccia & Raf Simons send down the runway. So I was looking at things from different things to create a custom gown fro Lily and I settled on a strapless black nylon cocktail dress which featured a white lace panel along the hem that I turned into a tiered a-line ball gown with an airplane buckle belt. It isn’t a big or event the most dramatic gown Prada could send down this red carpet, but I think the shape and sensibility is perfect for Lily. She would be a belle of the ball. I would style her currently dark locks into a sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, with sharp cat eye lined eyes for the beauty adding a pair of Prada crystal embellished black satin sandals, and De Beers jewelry including ‘Aria’ collection rose tassel white diamond earrings, a bracelet set with brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds surrounding a central brilliant-cut diamond, and ring a in white gold set with pavé diamonds surrounding a central brilliant-cut diamond along with an ‘Enchanted Lotus’ diamond ring to create a perfect Met Gala moment for Lily.

Page Six says that Kendall Jenner is is confirmed to be in attendance at this years Met Gala. So far she is the only one of the Kardashian/Jenners who is confirmed to attend, though other reports say all of them have received invitations this year. Now that said I had to change my wish for Kendall at the last minute because I saw looking at other things that her sister Kylie had worn the burgundy Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown that I had originally picked for her to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Now it actually was okay because as I was working on picking looks for a wish in my upcoming series for the Cannes Film Festival I saw this white feathered asymmetrical Vivienne Westwood Bridal Couture 2024 gown with its off the shoulder cape like bodice and fit to flare skirt covered in intricate beading. I then knew exactly that it would be a perfect gown for Kendall to wear on the Met Gala red carpet, and I am ready for it. A soft updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Jaipur’ crystal detailed metallic leather sandals, and a selection of Messika jewelry including a pair

Kris Jenner has been to the Met several times giving her momager glam every single time. I was wondering what she would wear this year and I went more classic instead of fashion forward. I love this purple floral print silk a-line Carolina Herrera a-line skirt from the Fall 2024 RTW collection, but where the runway was styled with a voluminous ruffled matching printed top I would swap that for a simple black long sleeve silk pussybow blouse instead. That would be much more Kris Jenner. We usually see Kris in very fitted styles, but I think that this ensemble would be perfect for this years Met Gala theme. Her short pixie, smokey eyes, a deep ballet slipper lip, purple Gianvito Rossi pumps, and a selection of dazzling diamonds set in white and rose gold from 64 facets would turn this into a beautiful moment for Kris.

Last up for today is the first member of K-pop ground BLACKPINK to fit into my Met wishes, Jennie Kim. The gorgeous songstress made her debut last year wearing a re-issue of a 90s Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld design which made a lot of sense since she is a face of Chanel. I would love to see her back on the carpet again this year. I don’t love Chanel by Virginie Viard. It feels very dated, very been there done that. But I can assume that we are bound to see looks from the collection on the red carpet nonetheless. I tried to find one of the least offensive looks from the Chanel Spring 2024 Couture collection picking this gray sequined cropped tweed jacket with a full eggshell cream tulle ball skirt and a bandeau bra top for Jennie to wear on this years red carpet. I want to see her take this look and really make it a moment on the Met Gala red carpet. That would only be possible with the right styling. I decided to make the centerpiece of this look the Chanel High Jewelry ‘Camelia Byzantin’ necklace made of yellow sapphires, carnelian, opals, tsavorite garnets, nephrite jade, and onyx with a radiant-cut 10.07 ct yellow diamond center. The Chanel jewelry is always stunning and I think it would help make this dowdy moment less ugly. Honestly she could leave the jacket back in the hotel room and just wear the bralet and skirt with the necklace. I would then finish the look with sleek center parted hair, winged eyes, light pink lips, a pair of champagne satin Roger Vivier platform sandals, and Chanel Fine Jewelry camelia rose gold set diamond drop earrings.
