Well it has finally come the first day of May and the final list of wishes for the 2024 Met Gala red carpet. The Met Gala is the epitome of high fashion and glamour. It brings together the biggest names in entertainment, fashion, and culture for a night of opulence and creativity. Hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, the gala serves as a fundraiser for the institute’s exhibitions, drawing attention to its collections and celebrating the artistry of fashion. Each year, the gala revolves around a specific theme, inspiring attendees to interpret it through their sartorial choices, resulting in some of the most memorable and iconic red carpet moments.This year the theme for the red carpet is ‘Garden of Time.’ With its blend of celebrity, couture, and philanthropy, the Met Gala stands as a cultural landmark, setting the standard for elegance and innovation in the world of fashion. Who else is ready for a major red carpet next Monday.

Over the years, Serena Williams has consistently shown up on the red carpet at the Met Gala, showcasing her bold sense of style and fashion evolution. Whether she’s donning a show-stopping jumpsuit with a feather cape by Gucci in 2019 adorned with intricate embellishments or opting for a simpler draped Versace gown in 2017, Serena effortlessly commands the red carpet with her signature confidence and grace. Each year, she pushes the boundaries of fashion, blending athleticism with high fashion glamour. Now I have to admit that I am not necessarily the biggest fan of her past Met Gala moments. I think she tries so hard to give something BOLD when simpler and chic tends to fit her style best. I tried to pick a look that I think would speak to bold glamour while still fitting with the more athletic glam that works so well for her. So I would love to see Serena show up on the red carpet wearing a custom lilac Marc Jacob Spring 2024 RTW strapless gown with a sculpted petal like neckline and tulip shaped skirt turned to hit the floor. I wouldn’t do a big train despite that being the MO for the Met Gala. I would keep it simple yet glamorous with a sleek center parted updo, soft smokey eyes, matte nude lips, a pair of lilac Andrea Wazen ‘Rouches’ pointed toe ruffle detailed pumps, a lilac crystal embellished rose Judith Leiber minaudiere, and David Yurman jewelry including statement stained glass like floral cluster earrings and a white diamond coil bracelet to make this Serena’s best Met Gala red carpet moment ever.

Reese Witherspoon has graced the Met Gala with her timeless elegance and sartorial flair over the years, captivating audiences with her evolving sense of style. From her debut in a bold pink Stella McCartney with one of the best beauty moments ever to grace a red carpet, to her most recent appearance in 2017 in a sexy and glamorous Mugler gown, she commands attention in sophisticated and daring ensembles, Reese Witherspoon consistently epitomizes Hollywood glamour. I decided to go with a vintage gown for Reese with this periwinkle and pink on ivory satin Balmain Couture floral gown from 1954. I mean how perfect of a moment for this years ‘Garden of Time’ theme is this gown? I definitely think that Olivier should have the gown re-issued from the archives, but Olivier-fy it by making the floral print into 3D crystal embellishments to really add a lot more dazzle to this look. With the gown being such a statement all on it’s own I would keep the styling very classic with old Hollywood waves, soft smokey eyes, light pink lips, nude Le Silla sandals, and a selection of Harry Winston jewelry which mixes white diamonds with pink sapphires, blue sapphires, and a statement blue diamond on the ring.

Ali Wong, with her irreverent humor and unapologetic charm, would undoubtedly make a splash at the Met Gala this year. She swept awards season for her role in BEEF and brought looks from major labels like Christian Dior, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, and Iris Van Herpen over the course of her wins. It would just make sense that she gets to make her Met Gala debut this year. Ali embodies the spirit of modernity and empowerment that the Met Gala celebrates. Making her debut at the event would not only be a testament to her rising star in the entertainment industry but also a celebration of her unique style and perspective. As a trailblazer in comedy and a voice for diversity and inclusivity, Ali Wong would undoubtedly bring a fresh and exciting energy to the Met Gala, making her debut a moment to remember. Now I have to say I have no idea what she would wear. I’ve yet to figure out her vibe totally just yet. I would absolutely love to see her wearing this champagne fully bead, sequin, and crystal embellished a-line tulle gown from the Fendi Spring 2024 Couture collection. What does it have to do with the theme? Honestly nothing, but it is beautiful and I think she would be a great candidate to make it work, if it is perfectly tailored for her. I would also customize it to have it fully lined because sheer isn’t really Ali’s speed. Now she is very petite at 5 foot even and she rocks crazy platforms under her gowns to add some height so I would style this gown with a pair of bronze D’Accori ‘Belle’ platform sandals that would add almost 6 inches of height. I would love to then see this look styled with a romantic updo with bags, her signature big glasses, soft defined smokey eyes, dark pink lips, and a selection of simple Chopard jewels that adds a pop of color to this outfit to make it a perfect moment for Ali to wear for her Met Gala debut.

Lil Nas X has electrified the Met Gala with his fearless fashion choices and unapologetic self-expression over the years. From his debut appearance where he quick changed in Atelier Versace from a regal cape to robot armor to a crystal bodysuit to his full body painted moment by Pat McGrath last year, Lil Nas X has consistently pushed the boundaries of style and gender norms, captivating audiences with his bold and innovative looks. Lil Nas X brings a sense of excitement and unpredictability to any red carpet he walks, but I always await the moment he’s going to bring to the Met Gala. With his charismatic presence and willingness to challenge the status quo, Lil Nas X has become a true icon of individuality and creativity. So I had to go on the hunt for something as major as he is for him to wear for this years red carpet. I found it in this big red silk taffeta pouf moment from the Richard Quinn Fall 2022 RTW collection. It almost makes me feel like it would be Lil Nas X turning into a flower and if anyone could make it work it would be him. Honestly I would only add a pair of red unshaved cow leather Rick Owens signature platform plexi heel boots to really complete this look beautifully for Lil Nas X.

With her striking beauty, poise, and effortless grace on the runway, Anok Yai has captivated audiences and designers alike, becoming one of the most sought-after models of her generation. Anok Yai undoubtedly brings a fresh perspective and a sense of diversity to the red carpet, reflecting the evolving landscape of fashion and celebrating the beauty of representation. Her past looks have always been some of my favorites on the red carpet. In 2021 she made her debut in a beautiful fully beaded Oscar de la Renta gown with a feathered cape, she was one of my favorite (and I still say most underrated) looks of the night in 2022 wearing hot pink sequin Michael Kors, and last year she gave us avant garde mermaid vibes in Atelier Prabal Gurung. No matter what she wears she serves and I want to see Anok give us another major moment this year having Demna re-issue this rose cape hood and column gown from the a 1967 couture Balenciaga collection allowing her to become a black rose on this red carpet. It would be MAJOR. If anyone could really ooze presence in this very difficult to pull off avant garde moment it would be Anok, I would style it with a perfectly laid pixie (for if and when she takes off the hood cape), winged smokey eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of black satin Balenciaga ‘Talon Slash’ sequin silver flower embellished pointed toe pumps, simple onyx, diamond, and emerald Boucheron square octagon stud earrings and a statement Boucheron ‘Graphique’ cuff with malachite, onyx and diamonds set in 18K white gold.

I definitely want to see Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh on the red carpet at the Met Gala this year. With a career spanning across genres and continents, Michelle has enchanted cinema-goers with her remarkable performances and timeless elegance. She is going to have a major end of the year with Wicked getting ready to start a global promo tour. Her past appearances at the Met Gala have been nothing short of breathtaking, as she graces the red carpet with impeccable style and grace be it in custom Prabal Gurung in 2022 (her debut) or last year in custom Karl Lagerfeld. Michelle’s ability to effortlessly command attention in couture creations reflects her status as a true fashion icon. She is currently a face of Balenciaga and I would be shocked to see her wearing anyone else on the Met Gala red carpet should we see her there this year. She is another one who I dove deep into the Balenciaga Couture archives for. I found this beautiful faceted beaded fringe black gown with a chic chiffon caplet and long sash in the brands Fall 1951 Couture collection and immediately knew I had found the perfect gown for Michelle to wear on the Met Gala red carpe this year it just screams Hollywood glamour and I know she would wear it so well. I would ask Demna to make that sash into a really long train to make this look even more dramatic and glamorous for Michelle to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. A sleek center parted hairstyle tucked behind the ears, a pair of black velvet Balenciaga ‘Knife’ pumps, and simple yet dazzling Moussaieff jewels including diamond chandelier earrings, a white diamond and emerald bracelet, a black and white diamond ring, and an emerald and diamond ring would finish the look beautifully ensuring that Michelle dazzles yet again.

Taylor Zakhar Perez represents the epitome of Hollywood’s rising talent and style. With his charismatic presence and undeniable charm, Taylor has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide thanks to performances in Red, White, and Royal Blue and The Kissing Booth 2. His inclusion at this years Met Gala would not only showcase his burgeoning career but also highlight his distinctive sense of fashion. Taylor’s past red carpet appearances have already hinted at his flair for making a statement with his wardrobe choices, blending classic elegance with modern trends. He was front row at the Louis Vuitton Fall 2024 Menswear show and after that I immediately picked this black ensemble which features a double breasted suit layered with a full trench coat and detailed with turquoise buttons for him to wear on this years Met Gala red carpet. A pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Baroque’ lace up derbies with an embossed thick sole, a stainless steel Patek Philippe watch with a turquoise face, and a selection of Bulgari white gold and diamond rings would make this just another major menswear moment for Taylor to bring to life on the red carpet.

Rachel Zegler burst onto the scene thanks to her captivating performance in West Side Story almost two years ago. Since then she has become a rising star with her performance in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes last year, she has an animated film coming out this year, and next year she will be the next live action Disney princess with Snow White. So of course I want to see her back on the Met Gala red carpet to not only celebrate her burgeoning career but also showcase her innate sense of style and sophistication. Rachel’s past appearances have already hinted at her ability to captivate audiences with her grace and poise, making her a standout presence on any red carpet. Her debut was done back in 2021 before the promo tour for West Side Story where she was the guest of Christian Dior. Well I hated that moment that aged the young actress, but it cemented her as a face of the brand early. So she almost exclusively wears the brand on the red carpet. Should we see her next Monday I would love to see her in one of my favorite Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri gowns. I cannot believe that this blush pink strapless ballgown with pressed flowers on the bodice and a tiered tulle skirt hasn’t been worn on a red carpet yet. It is beautiful and I feel like it might have been saved for this red carpet. It is a perfect iteration of this years theme and I believe that Rachel would look every so beautiful making her way up those famous steps wearing this gown especially styled with chic waves, soft metallic smokey eyes, light pink lips, a pair of champagne satin Christian Dior platform sandals, and simple jewelry from Jacquie Aiche to really compliment this delicate gown.

And we’ve finally reached the end of the wishes. This is look 300 of 300 that I’ve picked to grace the red carpet at this years Met Gala and I have to say that had it not been for this Lela Rose Fall 2024 RTW black column gown with an intricately beaded goldenrod capelet bodice I probably never would have put Renee Zellweger on this wish list. She hasn’t been on the Met Gala red carpet since she showed up and closed out the night in 2012 wearing custom Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas. But when I saw this gown I knew that I had to put out a wish for Renee Zellweger to make a triumphant return to the Met Gala red carpet this year, embodying a timeless elegance and undeniable talent. Her past appearances at the Met Gala have been nothing short of iconic, as she exudes confidence and grace in every ensemble she wears. As a beloved Hollywood icon, Renee Zellweger’s return to the Met Gala red carpet would undoubtedly be a highlight of the event, inspiring admiration and awe from fans and fashion enthusiasts alike. This gown fits her very narrow style box and perfectly fits the theme. So why make it happen? The gown with a chic updo, classic black Christian Louboutin pointed toe pumps, and a selection of chunky and dazzling David Webb jewels would definitely make it a beautiful moment for Renee.
