Christopher Nolan’s latest film Tenet seemed to be destined for a gala opening at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. The director has screened at the festival several times over the years and was heavily rumored, and all but confirmed by the festival director, to have nabbed one of the coveted spots this year. Instead Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping that with a new release date of July 17, 2020 that the film will spark people’s return to the movies this summer reviving the theatrical box office. Tenet is an action epic revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution. Possibly about a man trying to prevent World War 3 through time travel and rebirth. It sounds like a great storyline, and I am interested to see it when it finally releases, but until then let’s fantasize about what could have been in Cannes shall we?
