In just over 48 hours the biggest names of stage and screen will descend upon Radio City Music Hall in New York City to Celebrate the 2018 Tony Awards. We are expecting performances from this years nominated musicals including The Band’s Visit, Mean Girls, Frozen, My Fair Lady, SpongeBob Squarepants, and more. In addition to the nominated shows we will also see a performance from last years Best Musical winner Dear Evan Hansen and from Bruce Springsteen who is currently performing on Broadway in his one man show  Springsteen on Broadway. When it comes down to it the red carpet at the Tony Awards can be either really good or really cheesy. I’ve said it several times but thank god that about 3 years ago Anna Wintour was asked to be an unofficial consultant and since then the carpet has been the most elevated that is has been in years. Broadway stars nominated and presenting have been known to stop by the VOGUE offices and get a styling session with some of the magazines editors in some of the most coveted runway looks. Anna Wintour has been a guest at the Tony Awards the past 4 years and usually she attends with her daughter Bee Shaffer. The last 3 years have seen Bee wearing Alexander McQueen, Erdem, and Marc Jacobs on the Tony Awards red carpet and I am very interested in seeing what she just might bring to the red carpet on Sunday. I went with a very bohemian glam moment for Bee with this cardinal red Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2018 gown which features thin criss-cross halter straps, cascading ruffle detail, and ruffle shoulder straps. I don’t think Bee has ever worn a Prabal gown on the red carpet, but I definitely think that this would be a perfect option for her to rock on this red carpet. Add a bronze Tyler Ellis ‘Aimee’ clutch, romantic updo, smokey eyes, matching red lips, a pair of bronze Aquazzura ‘Chateau’ crystal embellished sandals, and antique Fred Leighton rose cut diamond double cluster pendant earrings to really ensure that this look is perfectly glamorous for the Tony Awards red carpet. Frozen might be nominated for Best Musical, but none of the cast was able to scrape up a nomination, but we are still expecting to see them step out to support the show and perform a number during the 2018 Tony Awards. Idina Menzel left some pretty big shoes to fill (she did sing “Let It Go” all the way to an Academy Award win” and I do think that Caissie Levy does the role justice, and I am really intrigued to see what she will bring to the red carpet Sunday at the Tony Awards. She attended the opening night of Frozen wearing a red Zac Posen gown and I definitely think that she will be one of the Broadway stars who bring in the high fashion factor to the red carpet. I went a little left of what one would expect me to pick opting for a midi gown for Caissie to wear on this red carpet. I think that she would totally sell this ivory Oscar de la Renta Resort 2019 ruffle bodice midi gown which features a strapless neckline, with a ruffled floral detail, and a column silhouette. This gown is only like a week and a half old and they could definitely hold it for a bigger name, but I definitely think that Caissie would look absolutely gorgeous wearing this gown on the Tony Awards red carpet especially if paired with a gold glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Ellipse’ clutch, a romantic updo, smokey eyes, pink lips, a pair of ivory satin Jimmy Choo ‘Abel’ crystal broach embellished pumps, and Tiffany & Co. by Jean Schlumberger 18k gold, diamond, and aquamarine cluster earrings. Ever since Scarlett Johansson wore Marchesa and VOGUE published several article of support for Georgina Chapman and Marchesa I wonder who will be the next to wear the brand on the red carpet. The Tony Awards are a huge platform and I feel like it would surprise me if someone doesn’t wear a Marchesa gown on this red carpet. I feel like Kerry Washington would be a perfect person to bring the brand to life on the red carpet. One of my favorite looks from Kerry’s red carpet history is the Marchesa gown she wore for the 2013 Emmy Awards and with her being a big voice in the #TimesUp movement in Hollywood I think that she would be a perfect person to bring the brand to the red carpet. As a presenter this crimson red Marchesa Fall 2018 RTW strapless tulle drop waist gown which features a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice, 3D floral details, tiered ruffles, a full skirt, and a dramatic train might be a little much, but if anyone could make it work it would be Kerry. She has this regality that I think would really make this gown work for this red carpet. Style it with a vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, crimson red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Sofia’ sandals, a black Marchesa beaded crystal clasp clutch, and a pair of Chopard ruby floral cluster earrings and this could really be one of my favorite moments of the year. Laurie Metcalf was the winner of the Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play trophy at the 2017 Tony Awards. I haven’t heard if she will be on hand this year after her run for and Academy Award earlier this year and on the heels of Rosanne being canceled. I do hope she will because I have to say that she has been one of my unexpected favorites to see on the red carpet. I would love to see Laurie step out on Sunday night being a beacon of summer style wearing this canary yellow Sachin + Babi Resort 2019 off the shoulder gown which features pleated details, an a-line skirt, and a sweetheart neckline. I had a difficult time picking the perfect gown for Laurie to wear, and then I saw the brand new Sachin + Babi Resort 2019 collection lookbook and this gown screamed Laurie wear me. I definitely think that this would be a really great moment for her to bring to this red carpet. Add a matching yellow Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ velvet clutch, a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Frederica’ sandals, and Chopard white and yellow diamond drop earrings and this would be a really beautiful moment for Laurie. Tina Fey is expected to take home the 2018 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Mean Girls in addition to present on Sunday night and I am really excited to see what she may wear. I feel like Tina has this up and down sense of style. She loves a good black dress, but on Sunday I want to see Tina go for the bold via some great color on the red carpet at the Tony Awards. The moment I saw this electric blue Zac Posen Resort 2019 polka dot gown which features a pleated bodice with a scoop neckline, draped hanging skirt detail, and a front slit I immediately wanted to see Tina wearing it on the red carpet at the Tony’s. It is definitely a statement moment and I feel like it would hug Tina’s curves perfectly. Hoping that she will take home the Tony and that of course if the nights most coveted accessory, I would hope to see her style this look with a navy crystal Serupi ‘Montana’ clutch, a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of matching blue Gianvito Rossi strappy sandals mules, and Cartier diamond and sapphire art deco fringe earrings to really ensure that this is Tina’s night in more way than one.

The 2018 Tony Awards will take place on Sunday June 10, 2018.
